Ever had trouble picking out a nice date spot? Ever wanted to show that guy/girl a trendy, new cafe? Well Krimper is perfect for taking your date or small group of friends for coffee!

Hidden down an alley off another alley and with only a small sign marking its entrance, Krimper can be easily overlooked. The design of the cafe has purposely retained most of the original material from the warehouse site to allow the history create a unique and rustic character, almost telling us its own story.

The interior design uses minimal lighting against water-blasted brick wall and Japanese-stained ply creates the sense of a warm and welcoming hearth. The café tables and chairs are made from recycled lift doors and old timber pieces that were obtained on site. Atmosphere is very friendly and the staff are extremely nice; a few are Japanese for those that might not be comfortable with English yet.

As far as food goes, Krimper offers brekkie and lunch. But with the hipster atmosphere come the hipster servings; if you’re after a huge feed this isn’t the place. Prices are also typical of Melbourne, but the food is fan-fucking-tasitc. I’d recommend Dr Marty's Crumpet with Canadian maple syrup brekkie-wise ($13) but would stay away from the lunch menu; better off somewhere else on a student’s allowance. The Chips with Aioli ($7) can be nice, however.

However the real reason for going to Krimper is for coffee dates. Coffee prices range from $3 - $7, and smoothie prices are displayed on the specials board. The coffee itself is not perfect but the locale is sure to impress. Indoors is not too loud, making it ideal for some date banter. Take your partner here and it’s sure to impress!
